The video below is an interesting poker discussion on pro poker players’ demeanor and how much is real and how much is strategy. The expert panel includes Daniel Negreanu, Phil Gordon, Howard Letterer, Phil Hellmuth, and Mike Matusow. Chris Rose from Best Damn is the informal interviewer.
I thought this was a very interesting piece because you get to see the poker players commenting on how they themselves act. Phil Gordon was very open and said both Phil Hellmuth and Mike Matusow take their antics to the point it hurts them. Phil Hellmuth intimated part of his table behavior was an act, but others weren’t buying it. Mike Matusow said that is really how he is and I think we all believe him on that.
Another interesting dissention was Phil Gordon saying that Mike’s actions weren’t good for the game of poker. He said people play to see them play good poker, not act ill-behaved. Everyone of them had insightful comments, but the most intriguing part was how shy Mike “The Mouth” began the interview.
